Anna Sui Fall 2014 Cosmetics Launch Party meets NYC Lolita community
Every season, the day after the fashion show, Anna Sui launches her newest cosmetics line. This time, the party had some very special guests! Indeed, NYC’s Lolita community attended the event and got to meet Anna herself. Seen from left to right:
Anna Sui cosmetics enjoy a very good reputation in Japan, and they regularly appear in Japanese Lolitas purses and mooks, so it’s only natural to see Western Lolitas being equally attracted to the stylish, intricate and overall adorably feminine makeup.
I attended the NYFW Art Hearts Fashion show a week ago but haven’t had time to make a post. A group of us went to Anna Sui after the show. I’m sold on the makeup. I’m going to pick up some of the powder foundation when I run out of what I’m using now.
War just showing my friends worn photos of a pair of pants I made five years ago. They’re tighter than they should be note since I haven’t exercised in over three years (only barely once every three months) anyway I’m going to make some changes to the pattern and make different sizes.
After two fancier coords it’s nice to dress down a bit. My darling sweetmintyalice is leaving for China this coming semester so we had an early ILD meet before she leaves.
Tea was at the Pembroke. It’s pricier at about $65/person for tea but the setting is beautiful and the food is delicious. I was able to fill up on finger sandwiches and mini desserts with a choice of three teas (They will make three types of tea for a party of 11) I highly recommend this venue for high tea. The service was impeccable and they actually made a special allowance for us to have tea menu at 1 PM instead of the normal 3PM. (So yeah make sure when high tea is available)
After we had all eaten we had a gift exchange. Everyone brought a gift worth about $25 (tho some ppl went overboard) and we had a blind exchange. I managed to snag an amazing package including a shirt from the uniqlo x laduree collab (pic), A pair of earrings in a macaron jewlery box, a cute paper folder and a lip gloss. Other ppl got amazing gifts as well including handmade flower crowns, accessories and mooks.
As am impromptu event, Miri and I had decided to get our noses pierced. We had both been considering it for a while so a few of us trekked over to Astor Place to have it done. Nina also decided to join in the fun. I had my septum done while Miri and Nina had the side of their noses pierced (pic). The process was less painful than I feared and the result is super cute!
A few of us hung out a bit longer, going to BTSSB/Tokyo Rebel and grabbing some dinner at Chipotle. Not a completely frilly day but a very fun one.
JSK: Lief Perfume Coffret
Blouse: Stolen from my mom (she was throwing it out)
Accessories: Made by me
Shoes: I’m wearing two pairs. Both are from Melissa.
I’m aware that my wig is very pink and could perhaps be considered a poor choice but I really like the cut and i think the effect is quite cute. I made sure that my eyes were extra dolly for this wig to work on me. I hope you like it ~
Surprise! My new favorite sub-style is EroLoli. I know it has a bad rep but considering the theme of the tea party I attended this weekend was “Secret Rose Budoir” I could hardly resist trying it out!
The tea party was held in Baltimore so it was quite a trek from New York but completely worth it. Martha Prevensie was the hostess. She and the staff did an amazing job. Many wonderful designers donated prizes and i was lucky enough to win a necklace from the raffle. The tea and food was delciious, tho i do wish there was a bit more to eat.
The attendees all turned out in spectacular fashion and the decor was sumptuous. Unfortunately I did not bring a camera since i was already carrying my coord in a bag along with crafting materials to finish my headdress on the train. However i was able to steal some photos from my friends honeyteaclover (she always takes amazing photos) and Yanise.
I made most of the coord myself. You can see the result is fairly close to my original sketch. The one issue is that chiffon is really difficult to sew and this was my first time so the bodice of the dress isn’t very good. The fabric is a little warped there tho it might snap back into shape with a quick soak and light ironing. By the time i got to the sleeves, i had found a good method which basically eliminated warping.
Corset: Purchased about 8 years ago.
Cage Skirt: Self-made
I think ero might be an up and coming substyle! Capes are also showing up more. If anyone is interested in commissioning a cage skirt let me know! I will be vending them at Rufflecon.
What I wore to BTSSB / Tokyo Rebel New York store opening!
I love this print! It’s rare that I fall love with a print so I had to get it. I know it wasn’t popular but who cares! I also ended up getting the skirt pink/navy. I made the headdress myself. I hope you guys like it!

Before I begin, I have to apologize for the length of this post. In the past few weeks I have been publicly accused of wrongdoing by the Japanese shopping service/seller known as Rosaire. She also goes by the names Sara Rose or Lisa B. I tried to stay quiet because I was hoping things could be…
In the Lolita hobby we often hire shipping services to help us acquire hard to find items. Considering the amount of cash being handled you would expect the ppl offering these services to act professionally.
My friend just went through a horrible transaction with one of these services. This is posted as a warning to those considering rosaire as an ss.
The summer is not Lolita friendly! Thank goodness we mostly stayed indoors. A couple friends and I went and enjoyed some amazing food at Sugar & Plumm. I can’t recommend them enough. Not only is the food wonderful the manager and owner are very receptive towards Lolitas. Both times I went our group ended up getting free food. The first time they have a brownie bowl tho we had already ordered dessert. This time they gave us two extra shakes so the five of us consumed a total six shakes together.
The menu is dessert heavy also includes a good selection of savory entees and salads. It can get a bit heavy so if you want to try an entree as well as dessert, I would recommend sharing the entree with a friend.
I was wearing a new wig for the first time! I rather like the blonde. Since the entire coord is rather dark I wanted to wear a lighter wig to balance it.
JSK: Metamorphose Sweets Print
Blouse: The Floral Notebook
Necklace: Gift from my friend sweetmintyalice.
Shoes & Bag: Vintage
yeah my eye bags get super puffy when I smile and make my eyes look tiny. I need to remember to open my eyes more.
My friend takes really funny/pretty photos of herself in a wig cap getting ready for a day in Lolita so I took one too!
I actually like it since it looks like a harlequin. Sorry the photo is fuzzy. I took several and turned off the skin smoothing mode but I think the dim light really throws off my phone camera.
This is a basic makeup look for Lolita. Peach/pink eyeshadow. Nice eyelashes and noticeable but not overdone eyeliner. Pink lips and pink cheeks are really great for your basic Lolita makeup! The circle lenses are not a must but I wear them 75% of the times I dress up in Lolita. My eyes are really small tho so I think the eyelashes sometimes swallow them up.
