What I wore to BTSSB / Tokyo Rebel New York store opening!
I love this print! It’s rare that I fall love with a print so I had to get it. I know it wasn’t popular but who cares! I also ended up getting the skirt pink/navy. I made the headdress myself. I hope you guys like it!

Before I begin, I have to apologize for the length of this post. In the past few weeks I have been publicly accused of wrongdoing by the Japanese shopping service/seller known as Rosaire. She also goes by the names Sara Rose or Lisa B. I tried to stay quiet because I was hoping things could be…
In the Lolita hobby we often hire shipping services to help us acquire hard to find items. Considering the amount of cash being handled you would expect the ppl offering these services to act professionally.
My friend just went through a horrible transaction with one of these services. This is posted as a warning to those considering rosaire as an ss.
The summer is not Lolita friendly! Thank goodness we mostly stayed indoors. A couple friends and I went and enjoyed some amazing food at Sugar & Plumm. I can’t recommend them enough. Not only is the food wonderful the manager and owner are very receptive towards Lolitas. Both times I went our group ended up getting free food. The first time they have a brownie bowl tho we had already ordered dessert. This time they gave us two extra shakes so the five of us consumed a total six shakes together.
The menu is dessert heavy also includes a good selection of savory entees and salads. It can get a bit heavy so if you want to try an entree as well as dessert, I would recommend sharing the entree with a friend.
I was wearing a new wig for the first time! I rather like the blonde. Since the entire coord is rather dark I wanted to wear a lighter wig to balance it.

yeah my eye bags get super puffy when I smile and make my eyes look tiny. I need to remember to open my eyes more.
My friend takes really funny/pretty photos of herself in a wig cap getting ready for a day in Lolita so I took one too!
I actually like it since it looks like a harlequin. Sorry the photo is fuzzy. I took several and turned off the skin smoothing mode but I think the dim light really throws off my phone camera.
This is a basic makeup look for Lolita. Peach/pink eyeshadow. Nice eyelashes and noticeable but not overdone eyeliner. Pink lips and pink cheeks are really great for your basic Lolita makeup! The circle lenses are not a must but I wear them 75% of the times I dress up in Lolita. My eyes are really small tho so I think the eyelashes sometimes swallow them up.
Not Lolita but what I was wearing today. I really love long flowing skirts/dresses/wrap pants. I like how they swish when I walk and I like how elegant they look.
My mom gave me this skirt. Can you tell she has great taste. She actually bought it for herself in Hong Kong before I was born at the advice of a friend but never wore it so it still has the hang tag. I’m a bit surprised because it’s so long. I can wear it with flats but I have to be careful going down stairs.
Discovering Phone Camera Apps-
I’m an illustrator/animator so I know about Photoshop but I honestly didn’t realize how easy it was for ppl to shop their photos until recently. And I’ll admit to thinking a lot of ulzzangs actually look like their photos in real life. (I know I’m gullible sometimes)To be sure I think they probably look pretty close to their photos but sometimes those eyes are kind of an insane size. The amount editing is different for each person too. Some are just tweaked while others are completely faked.
Like most ppl i enjoy looking at pretty photos of attractive ppl. However I’m not a big fan of overly shopped pretty girl photos unless it’s for cosplay or to create a certain atmosphere. If you’re just posting a photo of yourself to show your coord or your makeup I prefer minor editing for lighting and blemishes.
My reason for this is:
1) If you’re doing a makeup review I really want to see how you look with products!
2) This reason is more selfish but it’s because I sometimes do follow ppl because I think they’re really pretty. It’s nice to see different types beauty out there and how ppl present themselves which why I like see shopped coord photos showing faces.
Of course this is just a personal opinion and ppl shop no matter what. I will still enjoy pretty photos if they are done. well
I normally adjust photos for lighting and blemishes but that’s it. My post here was just to show how tweaking the eyes, nose, cheek shape can make someone look a lot better but i don’t really look that way so what’s the point of shopping? I will also point out that my phone camera sucks and there’s a lot of fisheye going on. I do wish my face wasn’t as long because I’m a bit horsey but I think it’s better for me to learn camera angles that suit me than to fake it.
This photo was originally taken to show the effects of Diamond Lash Aurora Eyes which is why I only have one lash on. These fake lashes are very natural with a subtle cat eye effect.
If you’re wondering where to purchase them they have their own website. It’s in Japanese but Google chrome does a good job of translating. I would suggest making a large order to make worth the shipping price from Japan. They are also sold at Sasa.com
And finally the last coord I wore in my first 6 months in the hobby. This is my eighth coord. It works out to at least one Lolita meet with my friends each month which I think is a good number. Keep in mind we also meet up in normal clothes but I won’t post those unless there’s something cute to share ^___^Note: sorry I don’t have good photos. My phone has a bad camera so i don’t take many. I am saving up for one.
This dress is really special to me because my mom made it. I posted it earlier without a blouse. Isn’t it beautiful? It’s very simple but versatile. The meet was Alice in Wonderland themed. I was originally going to be Cheshire cat but I couldn’t finish my OP in time. Anyway the three Alices duke it out. Clearly I am not winning.
JSK: My mom made it!
Blouse: The Floral Notebook (perfect fit)
Neck Bow & Belt: Innocent World
I really am not someone drawn to saxe blue all but I love this dress! It’s the perfect length for me. My mom doesn’t know a thing about Lolita so it’s meant be a casual dress but i have a hard time seeing without a petti now.
Sophia: Metamorphose’s Card Playing Kitty
The 6th month anniversary of my first foray into Lolita and my first meeting with my friends honeyteaclover and sweetmintyalice just slipped by yesterday! I had meant to post all my Lolita coords from the last six months but I’ve been busy.
So to catch up, here is my seventh coord worn to Sakura Matsuri. The sixth had already been posted and was really similar. The only difference was that I wore a bonnet and different socks and shoes.
This time I carried a wet/dry parasol since it might rain but turned out to also sunny that same day with train later the evening.
OP: The Floral Notebook
Everything else off brand.
Let me tell you guys a little about this OP. I’m a tall girl. I’m 177cm or just shy of 5’10”. I’m thin so I fit the bust and waist dimensions but my shoulders are killers they’re 38 cm wide which means I can’t find OPs or blouses that fit. Everything also tends to be a bit short on me. My one saving grace is that my neck makes up some of that height since its long so my shoulder height is closer to someone who is 5’9”.
I ordered this dress without knowing much about mikuha the young lady who owns the brand and I was blown away. I ordered three blouses and this OP. Honeyteaclover ordered a blouse and a bolero and all our items fit so perfectly that we are now spoiled.
Her prices are more than reasonable for custom fit and her customer service is superb. We are now each ordering an underskirt along with sweetmintyalice. I’m also ordering two more blouses and a bolero. I’ll do a formal review soon with better photos so you can see the products. She’s on Facebook and you place orders through email.
Note: My friends are wearing,
Victorianme : Victorian Maiden (she looks so amazing and she’s also super nice. I don’t mean fake nice. I mean she’s genuinely awesome)
Tyler: Haenuli’s Little Prince
You’ll notice my eye makeup has touches of green. I think it’s nice to coord your makeup too! Yeah my skin isn’t the best so if you prefer that I airbrush it let me know. I know a lot of ppl like to touch up photos but I only like to do it if the blemish is glaring.
I wore my sweetest print, Metamorphose’s Popping Balloons in yellow to Kings Carriage and met several new girls. They were all so well put together and you can see the photo that I was ok but not good. Still no petti. Still no eyelashes or mascara. The shoes actually matched better in person but the camera really changed the color. Same wig from my first coord and homemade headband. Not very terrible but I could tell I really needed to work on looking a little more presentable!
So three months into the hobby I acquired another dress on eBay for $75 shipped but at this point I realized I had to stop shopping and work in my coords. Either way, look for deals on eBay!
The Misako Tea Party in New York was looming so honeyteaclover, sweetmintyalice and I decided to do a little photo shoot for the scrapbook that a few girls were organizing.
I think my coord for the shoot was the first coord I didn’t feel awkward in. The headbow is a present from honeyteaclover!
AATP St.school JSK in brown.
Head bow from Sweet Mildred.
Tights from Grimoire lucky pack.
Blouse was something I’ve had forever.
And still no petti hahaha.
Last shot is from the Misako Tea Party @ The Dove Parlor. I remade the head bow but I’ll probably tweak it more. I finally have the makeup down and a real petti from Classical Puppets. I think the blue tights work a lot better with the Popping Bubbles. I had adjusted the shoulder straps so that the dress is longer but I’m so tall I think i look awkward with so much leg showing. You can see I look like a giant next to Misako with giant head! I swear I want trying to swallow her whole. In the future I will be investing in some underskirts
This was my second time wearing Lolita and it was a complete fail!
I met with sweetmintyalice (pictured here) and honeyteaclover at Rose House in Flushing. I walked in a little late to find two princesses sitting at a table waiting for me. Keep in mind that I didn’t know them at this point and these girls know how to Lolita!
Look at my flat skirt! I still didn’t wear enough makeup but more than the first time. This time I actually had a pale lip gloss on. I wore the no name jsk from IW that i had just swapped for a week and a half before with things I already owned and a fluffy deflated skirt lieu of a petti. My wig is ok but didn’t suit my skintone at the time since I was still a bit darker from the summer.
We had agreed to trade small Xmas gifts since the meet was early December. I had made my hair accessory which you can see is still small and unobtrusive. For the presents I made one for each of the other girls. In return I received a gorgeous necklace with a bird and cage charm from sweetmintyalice and two hair accessories from honeyteaclover that you will eventually see me wearing with sine coords!
Honestly I have to say I felt like I had failed a bit for making my gifts but thankfully honeyteaclover actually liked the accessory I made and often wears it as a neck bow! ^___^
As for the actual meet I had such a good time. As it turned out all three of us get along really well so we were talking non stop.
